DEAD LAKES

 The Dead Lakes is a unique natural attraction only about 30 - 40 minutes from the Cape San Blas area.  The Dead Lakes formed many years ago when the sandbasrs created by the current of the Apalachicola River blocked the Chipola River.  The ensuing high water killed thousands of trees in the flooodplain but left the eerie looking cypress tree remains.  Thus the name "Dead Lakes"  Great trip for wide variety of birds and plants.  Although popular among the local fresh water fishman, the Dead Lakes remains one the the quiet peaceful areas considered "off the beaten" path.  Captain Roger is a local who knows the waters and can provide a tour you'll never forget.  Bring your camera, you won't want to miss the natural beauty and wildlife.
